As we know that Cultivating some plants and flowers in a closed environment requires precise control of Humidity, Temperature, Light Intensity and becomes risky and difficult. So if we automate this process by using sensors and actuators whose settings are set accordingly by the user then the work and burden of the farmer gets reduced to maximum extent. In this paper we are designing this system, where we place a slave device in the land slots which acquire the data and send it to one main master device. The slave and master communicates through RS485 network using modbus protocol which is cheap and yet effective. So that the user can monitor and control each and every node from the master itself. The master also timely updates the conditions of the plants environment timely to the user through SMS using GSM technology. Keywords

This paper mainly presents the design and the implementation of wireless sensor network based fire monitoring and extinguishing system. Fire monitoring system continuously monitors the surroundings and keeps a track of the temperature recorded and the intruders detected, performed by monitoring node. Fire extinguishing system switches the extinguisher as soon as it detects the fire or when the temperature crosses a certain threshold level, performed by extinguishing node. Results indicate that the overall performance of the proposed approach is very good. The usage of zigbee monitored fire extinguishers in a hospital building has been demonstrated.

Firefighting is one of the most dangerous professions in which people are employed. The dangers associated are the result of a number of factors such as lack of information regarding the location, size and spread of the fire. The use of wireless sensor networks may be one way of reducing the risks faced by the firefighters and assist in the process of rapid extinguishment of the fire. The standards, such as IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee, stimulated the development of numerous commercial products. Moving from early research in military applications, sensor networks now are widely deployed in diverse applications including home automation, building automation, and others. Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a self organized network where network is set up on the fly. Some of the issues in MANETs are routing, security, power management, bandwidth management, mobility management, etc. Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) provides a flexible solution for discovering and maintaining routes in MANETs. This paper addresses the problem of routing by considering link stability (link expiry time) and node mobility. Link instability and node mobility causes frequent topology changes that result in routing complexity. The proposed Zone and Link Expiry based Routing Protocol (ZLERP) for MANETs is an enhancement to existing ZRP that offers better routing services. An attempt is made to limit control overheads in the network by selecting the path with stable links between two nodes. Nodes measure link stability using the received signal strengths from neighboring nodes at periodic time intervals. The proposed routing protocol is simulated in several network scenarios to test its operation effectiveness. It is observed that modified ZRP performs better than existing ZRP.Keywords
